Voluntary water conservation in effect

Because of the ongoing drought, the District has implemented voluntary water restrictions. Customers are asked to minimize non-essential water use such as: water lawns & plants, washing cars, pressure washing houses, and other activities that are non-essential for the safety and health of District residents. 

Thursday, Oct 24, 2019 – Water outage, Jonestown Road

Crews are working on District apparati in the area of Jonestown Road on Thursday, Oct. 24, between 10 AM and 3 PM. Some customers in that area may notice loss of water pressure or flow during those hours. 

Planned Outage – Wednesday, October 2, 2019

There will be a planned outage for the Woodfin area on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, to perform system upgrades. The outage will occur between 9 PM and 5 AM. Some customers may notice loss of pressure or flow during those hours as improvements are made. Customers affected include all Town of Woodfin residents south of Elk Mountain Avenue, all residents west of the Interstate, and customers located between Reynolds Mountain Village and Baird Cove Road. Major roads affected by the outage include: Elkwood Avenue, Weaverville Highway, Audubon Drive, Mills Place, Laurel Terrace, Breckenridge Parkway, Jonestown Road, Riverside Drive, Lookout Road, Green Oak Road, Washington Avenue, Cottage Street, Goodman Road, Martel Village, Elk Mountain Road, and streets connected to or adjacent to these areas. Customers may notice water discoloration or air in their lines at the conclusion of the outage and should let water run clear before washing white laundry or using it for drinking or cooking.

Hydrant testing, Woodland Hills – 8/7-8/8/19

The Weaverville Fire Department will be conducting hydrant testing on Wednesday, August 7 and Thursday, August 8, 2019. Testing will be in the Woodland Hills area. Customers in these areas may experience periods of low pressure or temporary water loss as well as discolored water while hydrants are being tested. Areas affected include Pinebrook Farms, Country Creek, New Stock Road, Fox Chase, Briarwood, Marlwood, Aiken, Highlander, Knoll Ridge, Leisure Mountain, Old Home, and roads connecting in this area. Water is safe to drink but caution should be used before washing white laundry as hyrant testing can increase water discoloration. 

Planned Outage, Baird Cove – Saturday, July 20, 2019

There will be a planned water outage for the Baird Cove area on Saturday, 7/20/19 from 11 PM until 6 AM. Construction crews are making improvements in the area and some customers will notice loss of water pressure and/or flow during those hours. Areas affected include customers in the Sunny Ridge Subdivision, Laurel Terrace area (Clarendon, Naples, Wellington, Breckenridge, Stratford, Elkmont, Hillcrest), Old Home Road, Old Weaverville Road, Weaverville Highway between Baird Cove Road and the New Bridge I26 exit, Audubon Drive, Mills Place, Running Ridge Road, and side roads connected to these areas. At the completion of construction customers may notice air in their water lines as well as some discoloration and should let water run clear before washing white laundry or using water for drinking or cooking. Water is and will remain safe to consume and letting water run clear is just a precaution as discoloration is caused by stirred up sediment due to the outage and pressure disruption. 

Saturday, Jul 13, 2019 – Midnight Outage

The District will be making system improvements Saturday, July 13, 2019 between 11 PM and 5 AM Sunday, July 14, 2019. During this period customers in the Woodfin and Beaver Lake area may notice reduced water pressure, flow, or complete loss of flow and pressure while work is being completed. Customers may also notice some water discoloration and should let water run clear before cooking or washing white laundry as a general precaution. 

Tuesday, July 2, 2019 – Hydrant testing, Woodland Hills

Contractors will be performing hydrant testing between 10 am and 12 PM on Tuesday, July 2, in the Woodland Hills area. Testing will be concentrated around Aiken Road; customers in that vicinity, in the Country Creek, Fox Chase, and Pinebrook Farms subdivisions may notice temporarily loss of water or reduced water pressure during that time as well as some minor discoloration. Water is safe to drink but customers with discoloration are advised to let water run clear before cooking, drinking or washing white laundry. 

Water main break – Monday, 7/1/19, 10:30 PM

District crews are working on a water main break on Weaverville Highway at this time. Customers in the vicinity may experience low or no water pressure while repairs are made. Work is estimated to continue until approximately 3 AM.

Wed. May 22, 2019 – Water outage, Old Leicester Highway

The District is repairing a water main leak on Old Leicester Highway. Customers between Erwin Hills Road and Craggy Bridge may notice loss of flow and/or pressure while repairs are being made. Estimated time of repair completion is 2 PM. 

Asheville water line work – May 2, 2019

The City of Asheville will be performing some water line work on their lines on May 2, 2019. It is possible that this work will cause some water discoloration for customers in the Woodland Hills area. Water will be tested and will be safe but customers that experience discolored water should refrain from washing white laundry until water is clear. The District will be monitoring the City’s water output and customers may see District personnel running water hydrants and other valves during that day. Customers that notice running fire hydrants after May 2nd should notify our office for investigating.
