There will be a planned water outage for the Audubon Drive area on June 3, 2013. This outage will begin at 11 PM and continue until 6 AM. Customers in the upper Laurel Terrace, Audubon Drive and Running Ridge areas may be affected. Service should be restored by 6 AM. Customers that may be affected by the outage may receive telephone notification, and up to date information will be available on this site.
Due to heavy storms, the District phone system is temporarily disabled. Customers with billing or other questions may come by our office. Emergencies can still be reported by calling the office number; our after hours center will take your information and get in touch with appropriate staff.
4 PM: The water outage affecting the upper levels of Audubon Drive and Laurel Terrace has been resolved and service has been restored.
There will be a water outage beginning at Noon on May 22nd, 2013 to make a water line repair. Areas affected include the upper parts of Audubon Drive, Running Ridge, and Laurel Terrace. It is expected that this outage will last several hours. Up to date information will be posted to this site as it becomes available.
The Weaverville Fire Department will be flow testing hydrants in the Weaverville area during the week of May 6-10 and 13-17, weather permitting. Areas around New Stock Road, Woodland Hills, Country Creek, Pinebrook Farms, Leisure Mountain Road, Old Home Road, and Old Marshall Highway will be affected. Water quality will be maintained and is safe to drink; however, flow testing will sometimes result in discolored water – care should be taken before washing white laundry by ensuring that water is running clear.
The tentative schedule for flow testing is as follows:
Beginning of the week, May 6-10: Knoll Ridge Drive, Highlander Road, Leisure Mountain Road, Barnwood Drive, Fox Chase and surrounding streets.
End of the week, May 6-10: Periwinkle Drive, New Stock Road, Country Creek, Pinebrook Farms and surrounding streets.
Beginning of week, May 13-17: Old Home Road, Old Marshall Highway.
April 30, 2013: The sewage spill that occurred at MSD earlier today into the French Broad River has no effect on Woodfin Water District customers. The District’s water source is at the headwaters of Reems Creek, near the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the District owns the entire watershed. The raw water source is pristine and often meets turbidity standards before it is filtered. MSD’s discharge location on the French Broad River has no effect on the District’s water supply.
District Distribution crews are installing a new 6″ connector on Elmwood Place. Customers and area residents are asked to drive with caution in this area as improvements to the system are made.
11:10 PM: District crews have repaired the service line break on Sunny Ridge Drive and water has been restored.
There will be a planned water outage for Weaverville Highway between Old Home Road and New Stock Road from 9 AM until 12 PM on Monday, April 15, 2013 in order to install system hardware. Customers should be prepared for loss of water and/or low water pressure during those hours.
The District is currently experiencing a telephone outage. Customers needing assistance can visit our office at 122 Elkwood Avenue. The outage has been reported for the area and we hope to have service restored shortly.
