Director’s Report

Thomas Gibson will be absent most of January due to an emergency appendectomy.
The first 50 meters in the AMR pilot program have been successfully installed.
District offices were closed January 16, 2017 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Since the new billing system was implemented, online payments have more than doubled that of the previous billing system.
The District’s annual state inspection of the treatment plant and distribution system will take place on January 20th.

Director’s Report

The annual local water supply plan was completed and submitted to the state.
The Merrimon Avenue project has been submitted to the state for review and approval.
The pumping station on Merrimon Avenue that used to provide water for the Leisure Mountain tank has been rebuilt for use in case of drought or emergency.
The emergency generator at the treatment plant is scheduled to be repaired at the end of the week.
The preliminary FY 2018 budget is expected to be presented at the April 2017 meeting.

Director’s Report

The annual state inspection of the treatment plant and distribution system was a success.
The Merrimon Avenue project engineering is finished and due to be sent to the state for review in the next several weeks.
The customers at the top of Leisure Mountain are now on the new Leisure Mountain pipeline and the tank and pump serving the top of the mountain have been decommissioned.
The emergency generator at the treatment plant needs repair or replacement. A repair effort for approximately $6,000 will be attempted, but if unsuccessful a new generator will need to be installed.
Plans for rehabilitating the Reynolds Mountain tank and treatment plant filters have begun.

Director’s Report

Thomas Gibson has been hired to fill the vacant Distribution system operator position.
The first several automated meters using the Verizon system have been installed at Pinebrook Farms for a pilot program and results are promising to date.
Liquid Engineering inspected and cleaned the clear well; due to the ongoing drought the Reynolds Mountain tank was inspected only, but sediment levels were less than ½” inch.
The District’s new phone system is operational.
District bills were delivered via envelope beginning with the end of November’s bills.
District offices will be closed December 23, 26-27 in observance of the Christmas holiday and January 2, 2017 in observance of New Years Day.
The District Christmas lunch is scheduled for Monday, December 13th at 12 PM.
The Merrimon Avenue project is expected to be ready to put to bid in January or February.

Director’s Report

Several individuals had been interviewed for the vacant distribution system technician position but it had not been filled as of the meeting.
The impending treatment plant violation was avoided by working with the state to relocate the sampling point for the test in question.
Dive teams will clean and inspect the clearwell and the Leisure Mountain tank beginning November 21st.
The District’s new phone system will be operational by the end of the month and will include the ability for customers to pay directly by phone, avoid busy signals, connect directly with other pertinent government organizations, and more.
District bills will be delivered by envelope beginning with the bills issued at the end of November 2016.
District offices will be closed November 24-25 in observance of Thanksgiving.
The District Christmas lunch is scheduled for Monday, December 13th at 12 PM prior to the start of the regularly scheduled Board meeting.
The Merrimon Avenue project is close to state submission. An alternative route for the water line has been identified along Old Weaverville Road to avoid some disturbance of the newly paved areas on Merrimon Avenue.
The District is participating in an area guide for the Town of Woodfin put together by the Weaverville Tribune.

Director’s Report

The discharge water project at the treatment plant wrapped up in October.
The District has been using very low levels of water at the treatment plant due to the drought, resulting in increased turbidity readings that may result in a treatment violation for the month of October that would require public notice. No good alternatives exist at this time, as the District’s lake is more than 15 feet below full at present.
Advertising for the vacant distribution system operator position began in October.
The New Bridge Apartment project appears to have decided to utilize existing City of Asheville water lines for their water needs.
Two employees and the Director performed work in the watershed investigating stream levels and clearing downed trees from the access roads.

Director’s Report

The FY 2016 audit is expected to be presented at the October meeting.
The District’s well pump at the treatment plant is still operational but recovery time is much slower than hoped, resulting in pumping levels of about 100k gallons per week at this time.
The discharge water project at the treatment plant is scheduled to begin the second week of September and take several days to complete.
The automated meter reading pilot program has proven very successful and further steps towards implementation will continue the next several months.
The level of the District’s reservoir is 13 feet down and water restrictions are recommended.

Director’s Report

The final connector for the top of Leisure Mountain is complete and residents have been notified to ensure they have a working PRV prior to the switchover later in August.
The District’s well pump at the treatment plant has been utilized to pump approximately 100k gallons of water daily but has developed some problems to be addressed.
SCADA work at the Herron Cove pump station is complete.
The District’s new billing system is live and customers will begin receiving new bills.
The District’s FY 2016 began this month and should conclude in September.
Distribution operator Mark Hensley injured his shoulder working in the field and will be out several months.
The state is requiring the District to separate discharge water from storm water at the treatment plant, a project that will cost approximately $20,000 utilizing outside contractors.
