What to know about our Treatment Plant Security
You may have seen recent reports about cyberattacks targeting water systems across our country. We want to reassure our customers that the Woodfin Sanitary Water and Sewer District’s water treatment and distribution control systems are not connected to the public internet and cannot be accessed or operated remotely through the internet. We have implemented various system security measures over the past two years as threats to utilities were discovered in the country and we will continue to do so.
We remain vigilant and continue to follow stringent and established security procedures to protect our facilities and ensure the safe, reliable delivery of drinking water to our customers.
At this time, there is no known threat to our water system or water quality. We are sharing this information to keep our customers informed and provide reassurance.
Customers who have questions or would like to learn more about our operations are encouraged to attend a meeting of the Woodfin Sanitary Water and Sewer District Board of Trustees. Board meetings are open to the public, and we welcome community participation.
