As is the case for most systems in our area, the District has significant damages from the hurricane. Some customers may still have water services and the District hopes to restart water production within the next few days as damaged areas are discovered and isolated and necessary repairs are made. Currently the District has no power at many of its facilities and limited ability to run generators on site due to washed out bridges and damaged roads preventing refueling efforts and other critical supply delivery. The Buncombe County emergency operations center is working with state and federal officials to set up potable water stations as quickly as possible for Buncombe County residents. We encourage all customers to sign up for mobile text alerts in order to stay informed on information as it becomes available.
